Cary Nourie is the Vice President of the Illinois Technology Development Alliance. In this capacity he works directly with early stage technology-based companies to assist in the growth and successful development of these companies through business development and facilitating access capital. Cary also focuses on assisting with the commercialization of technology from Illinois-based fortune 500 company's spin-outs. Additionally, he plays the lead role in due diligence and business assessment for all candidates for the Technology Development Bridge Fund and is the key personnel for managing the growth of these portfolio companies.
Cary has fifteen years of experience successfully building and commercializing technology-based companies, both in the United States and in Asia Pacific. Prior to joining the ITDA, Cary was the Technology Advisor to the Governor of North Carolina, as well as the Assistant Director of the North Carolina Board of Science and Technology. In these roles, Cary worked both to enhance North Carolina's research and technology infrastructure, establishing a $10 million innovation research fund and a $7.5 million bioscience investment fund, as well as developed policies supporting technology-based economic growth across the state.
Cary spent his early career in technology-based economic development in East and Southeast Asia, primarily working in the President's Office of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), a post graduate science and engineering applied research and education institute in Bangkok, serving 34 Asian countries.
Cary holds a masters degree in International Affairs from Ohio University, with an area focus in Technology Development in Southeast Asia.
