Illinois Technology Transition Center
The Department of Navy's Office of Naval Research contracted with the Illinois Technology Development Alliance in 2005 to establish the Illinois Technology Transition Center (ITTC). The Federal government is a great source for technology development funds and a potential market for new innovations. The process to work with the federal government can be intimidating and long. The ITTC can lower that transaction cost by acting as an intermediary between technology companies and federal opportunities.
The ITTC assists technology innovators in understanding the mission needs of the Department of Navy and pushing the technology development process forward to meet those needs. ITTC staff offer:
- Information services to identify federal programs and priorities for technology development and to assist throughout the proposal process.
- Business Needs Assessments to review technology commercialization and business plans to ascertain the potential pitfalls in those plans.
- Commercialization Services to strategize and prepare the technology innovator for government and commercial success. Solutions Marketing assistance to put the technology innovator in front of the right partner and/or customer to access new markets and capital.
Introducing new technologies and innovations to DoD program managers is primarily done through the submission of a quad chart. The quad chart quickly describes the technology, its innovation, development timeline and project costs. ITTC staff will assist technology developers in completing this document to present to DoD program managers.
